OFFSCREEN BRUSSELS ON TOUR 2026 | Offscreen
A selection of several Offscreen films at different locations.
ARREBATO
José, a failing horror director, designs a time-lapse attachment for Pedro's movie camera. Pedro becomes addicted to filming himself asleep, with creepy results possibly connected to heroin, or even to filmmaking itself. Zulueta's sexy, trippy arthouse horror is now a cult classic. Modern Spanish cinema starts here!
THE BLOOD SPATTERED BRIDE
After marrying into a misogynistic dynasty, a young bride is haunted by disturbing dreams in this exquisite horror fable inspired by Sheridan Le Fanu's Carmilla. Aranda socks it to the fascist patriarchy with lashings of blood, lesbians, vampires and a mysterious blonde buried naked, with a snorkel, on a sandy beach.
DAWNING
On a visit to their remote holiday home, two sisters agree not to tell their suicidal younger sister that their mother has just died. What begins as glum Bergman-esque family drama slides into darker, more horrific territory, capped by a devastating ending that forces you to reassess everything you've seen and heard.
TERROIR + LES RAISINS DE LA MORT + ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES!
On the eve of spring, Ciné Rio invites you to a night of horror of the strangest kind! Kuru and Offscreen accompany us with fringe noise for the French cult classic Les raisins de la mort and monster film parody Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!Beforehand, we will be screening a short film by young talent about bio-dynamic winegrowers. Just to give you a dash of eco-optimism to get you through the night!
BULK
Between blockbusters, Wheatley serves up a no-budget, surreal sci-fi thriller. Searching for a tech-bro who vanished when his "Brain Collider" exploded, Sam Riley's kidnapped reporter is sucked into a gallimaufry of time loops, multiverses, genres and lo-fi effects. Semi-experimental fun, a must-see for DIY filmmakers!
THE KILLER
Chow Yun Fat plays a dapper hitman who accidentally blinds a nightclub singer and takes on the proverbial one last job to pay for her cornea transplant while trading meaningful glances and Mexican stand-offs with his cop nemesis. Woo's kinetic high-octane bromance makes Hollywood action films look awfully arthritic.
MAG MAG
What begins as typical J-Horror, with schoolboys stalked by a long-haired ghost, soon veers into uncharted territory. Supernatural shenanigans, giallo-esque red herrings, a bonkers musical number and a deep dive into the outer limits of female desire merge into a memorable directing debut from a Japanese comedienne.
