Turkish Pop Cinema | Offscreen
During the 1960's and '70's, Turkey produced some of the most colourful, violent and psychotronic movies ever made. Inspired by American pulp serials and local comic book heroes, these films were packed with the exotic, the erotic and the downright psychotic.
Regrettably, the film production from this period was not archived. Many of its producers went bust, and most 35mm copies were simply destroyed. Only bad quality videotapes remain, making it hard to get projectable material nowadays. Thanks to the British Mondo Macabro label, we can offer a double bill of two fantastic, colourful and extravagant films.
