WATERSHIP DOWN
Richard Adams' novel comes to the screen as a thrilling animated adventure with a superb voice cast. After clairvoyant Fiver (Richard Briers) foresees the destruction of their warren, his brother Hazel (John Hurt) leads a small group of runaway bunnies on an epic journey through rural England in search of a new safe haven, braving predators, man-made traps and rival rabbits. The lapine point of view is partly anthropomorphised but wholly engaging, and while the unsentimental view of nature as red in tooth and claw is unstinting, the message is one of hope. This is the recently restored version.
