JACQUES SPOHR + EXPO GREEK EXPLOITATION FILM COLLECTION | Offscreen
It was during a four-year stay in Athens that Jacques Spohr, audiovisual documentalist, director and editor, started digging into 1960s and 1970s greek exploitation cinema. When he returned to France and started writing about it, the pictures became an integral part of his research. He started collecting posters, synopses, press releases, photo novels, lobby cards and quad posters. Eager to share his growing collection, he created L’Insatiable, fanzine instable in 2019. The text-image relationship soon became an important part of his work.
As a specialist, he regularly introduces film screenings for the Cinémathèque Française, in Greece and now also for the Offscreen Film Festival. It is with great pleasure that he will share some pieces of his collection in a small exhibition at Cinema Nova during the entire festival.
